With the BlackRapid Backpack Strap, you can connect your gear-carrying systems to combine them into one, allowing for comfortable carrying and transport of all gear in your bag and a DSLR with attached lens across your body. The adjustable R-Strap has 2 clips: one that hooks onto the backpack''s D-ring or webbing loop on the shoulder pad, and another that attaches to the D-ring or loop on the bottom strap on the opposite side of the pack. The Backpack Strap features an adjustable 32.5-36" length and 1.25" width. This handy accessory connects to the tripod mount on your camera via the included FastenR and ConnectR accessories, and also features a Lockstar and 2 locking bumpers. Once connected, you can glide your camera up the length of the webbing, just as you would with a traditional BlackRapid strap. A soft microfiber bag with a drawstring closure is supplied, and can double as a lens cloth. An aluminum carabiner is included, as well.
BlackRapid Backpack Strap (Black)
I'm surprised this hasn't picked up more heavily in the outdoors community! Bringing a DSLR while backpacking has always been somewhat awkward. You want your camera out so you can catch those "trail moments" but hanging it around your neck is a recipe for chafing/soreness and having it over a shoulder is inconvenient at best when you're hiking with your pack. This allows for quick access while putting the weight of your camera on your backpack (saving your neck.) The ability to slide your camera from your hip up to shooting position is the strongest selling point for BlackRapid products and now their system is compatible with backpacks. The length of webbing going across your torso is also adjusted with a simple pull so you can choose how high up on your hip your camera sits. With a shorter (e.g. prime) lens, your camera won't swing too much at your hip, but with a longer lens, simply tuck your camera strap into your pocket, securing it close to your body but allowing for convenient removal. Can't recommend this strongly enough for backpackers.
