Short version - I receive an immense number of compliments on this bag, and I admire its quality and durability every time I open it up. There are some caveats you should know about just in case they apply to you but they might not apply to everyone. Longer version. Con- This is so expensive! ! I was looking for a doctor bag to use for visiting clients at their houses. I wanted to be able to open the bag and have the bag stay open like a box. I wanted it to be leather so it would last the rest of my life. There are many quality bags on Amazon that fulfill those requirements but when I saw this, the exact thing I wanted but in the form of a backpack, I really wanted to buy it. It sat on my wish list for about six months. I didn’t buy a cheaper bag because I really wanted this one. How stupid that was! Once it arrived I never regretted spending the money because I figured would I pay a dollar to use this for one day? YES. Yes I would. If I think today cost a dollar I think that was a dollar well spent.my only other reservation besides the price was the review written by the woman with a small frame who said that the bag was heavier than expected all by itself, and weighed too much for her to take a trip. I too have a very small frame & the smallest shoulders any grown-up has ever been cursed with. I often don’t get backpacks for just this reason the straps are just too far apart and they literally slide off all the time. And if I do get A backpack I have to buy a sternum strap to hold the two straps together. Those can dig into your chest bone and hurt.. Finally I decided to just spend the money and see what happened.I LOVE IT. It is not too heavy for me. The large clam shell mouth of the thing does form it into a soft box. Whether or not it stands up on its own depends on what is in it. If it’s partly empty it’s sort of slouches toward the backstrap side but I just lean it on something. If I have heavier things it stands up on its own. My particular laptop when I put it (in a zippered case ) can go into the laptop pocket, but then the bag can’t quite close. But since my laptop is already in a case I just put it in the main compartment. The laptop pocket is where I keep folders, larger books, and papers it’s actually a better use for the pocket. The other few pockets are almost all handy the only one I can’t really find a use for is the zippered sectional piece in the bottom of the main space. I guess the divider is meant to help organize. I don’t find it useful. I don’t really need this feature and when you put things in the divider pocket it is then fat. So I just don’t use it. It doesn’t get in the way or anything Anyway it’s too small of a detail to affect my rating.The straps did not slide off until the weather got warm and I was only wearing a T-shirt. This really wouldn’t affect the great majority of buyers but those of you with small shoulders know exactly what I’m talking about. I took the backpack to a leather store and I explained my problem. We talked through a number of possible designs and I’m uploading a picture of what he made for me. It’s permanently attached which might bother some people but not me. I would just lose it anyway. There are other designs and possibilities that are detachable if this kind of thing applies to you. To me that’s not the fault of the backpack because there is no backpack on earth that wouldn’t do exactly the same thing.Here is one very concerning detail that applies to a lot of people. If I wear this backpack in the subway or a bus and I have not locked the lock with the little key, and if I lean against the seat with the backpack on it usually springs open the release buckle and then my backpack is hanging open.. I’m a little nervous to start using the key because only one key is included. There should at least be two keys So that’s a problem. But it’s certainly not enough to make me want to send it back.Because of this I still have an option for my valuables other than the laptop of course and that is the secret zippered pocket that lies against your back.So again if you have a small frame or you ride public transportation a lot and also tend to lose things you should think about that before buying this bag. However both of those things apply to me and I love it and I’m taking it on a trip to Europe this summer.The bag itself is very beautiful and very well made. However, it is quite heavy when empty. I have learned from experience that if a bag is heavy before anything is placed inside, it is too heavy to carry easily. I am 61 and so it is hard for me to carry things are that are heavy for any length of time. I am traveling to Europe and was looking at this bag for that specific use but it is just too heavy.I have been looking forward to purchasing this for awhile. I collect doctor bags. The closing mechanism/buckle does not reliably stay closed/is loose. Scratches on buckle. Bag is heavy, so would not recommend putting a lot of things in it if you have to wear it for a long time.This expensive backpack was shipped to me without any box or shipping covering. Shipping label was attached directly to product, without any protection.Pleased with my purchase ???Quality:Bag has good stitching and smooth opening mechanism. However, it does not have the look and feel of high quality top grain vegetable tanned leather. Tag inside says "genuine leather".Design:The bottom of the backpack straps are attached to the bottom of the bag horizontally, so they dig into your sides when bag is worn as a backpack. Also, inside pocket for laptop is placed on the oppose side of the bag as the backpack straps. This makes the bag quite awkward as a backpack.What a great backpack with a great look. A pleasant change from the utility looking bags to something that looks great, professional and has enough room for everything. The only thing they need to do is add some elastic pen slots and a key leash and it would be perfect!This is definitely quality workmanship. You trust Amazon because of the company's return policy. This leather backpack exceeded my expectations. The leather is top quality, stitching is expertly done, and there is a working lock. This my second item from Time Resistance. Both were great choices.The best bag for work and travelWhen the bag arrive I was thrilled it came with a beautiful dust bag and looked very well made - I thought at £350 it was a good buy - I have been using it everyday for about 3 weeks and it has developed a few issues the clasp doesn’t close fully so it doesn’t feel too secure - the other more important issue is the fraying on the handles I have uploaded photos - minor but not when you have paid for a top end item - on the plus side I got lots of compliments on the beautiful bag - so if you value style over substance then you will love itI never looked at amazon as a place to purchase high quality, pricy items like a handmade leather bag so I was skeptical. I searched and researched all over the internet looking for a leather backpack that would be professional enough for the office but fashionable enough to galavant around the city. My criteria were stylish, high quality, antitheft protection, and fare price tag. The clasped closing and full grain leather were the antitheft solutions I was looking for. While 300ish might seem pricy to some, take a look online and you're looking at paying double or more for designer products from stores like Nordstrom or less from unreputable sellers on ebay or Etsy. With little to no reviews on the seller pages or Youtube, I passed on the latter. I purchased two options, The Good Earth (GE) and A Brief Story of Time (ABSOT). It was such a tough call between which bag to go with but Amazon's return options help make it easy to order both. I love both the cognac and the brown and really wish the company would offer each bag in both colors. Ultimately, while I liked the originality and design of the ABSOT, it had one major flaw. The straps cut against my love handles/obliques and is completely unbearable. I am 5'10, 168lbs, with a 30in waist and work out often. I don't have much access body fat at all and I think that was the issue. As it turned out, I brought the ABSOT to work and within minutes my colleagues were trying it on and calling relatives who were doctors to ask if they wanted to purchase it. I was upfront as to why it wouldn't work for me but one colleague with a much larger frame handed me what I paid for the bag. His larger size caused the lower straps of the ABSOT to invert in a way that it caused him no discomfort. What I thought was a flawed design just turned out to be a better fit for a larger man. That said, the GE is super comfortable and I can imagine this would be the case for him as well. Ultimately, I can highly recommend this company and believe it will soon rise in value and popularity. Get it while it's still obscure. You will get compliments or made fun of depending how unfashionable your friends or colleagues are. These are statement pieces that announce themselves regardless of your outfit. The quality is impeccable and I hope the company elevates the quality of it's video reviews to match it's products. I hope this helps others make their decision easier. My colleague and I couldn't be happier with our purchase even though his was on a whim.
